Sustaining Electoral Engagement for Democracy (SEED)
The Sustaining Electoral Engagement for Democracy (SEED) project was launched in May 2021 with the following objectives
- Continue to improve impartial observation, accurate reporting on, and recording of the elections.
- To enhance the credibility of the electoral process through observation of the Pre-Election Environment, Party Primaries, and Election Day process using the Parallel Voter Tabulation (PVT) methodology
- To create awareness on the PVT methodology and how citizens-oriented election observation would enhance confidence in the electoral process.
Through the SEED project, Yiaga Africa undertook notable landmark activities such a feasible study in Oyo and Lagos states on the prospects of conducting and observing local government elections, pilot observation of the national continuous voter registration exercise in 7 states, observation of the political primaries in Anambra State ahead of the November 2021 governorship elections, media and CSOs capacity building on PVT methodologies and broader observation of the pre-election environment in Anambra State.
The SEED project is supported by the National Democratic Institute and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
