The Spotlight Initiative is a strategic intervention project designed to provide the legal and institutional frameworks for safeguarding the rights of women and girls as well as ensuring responsiveness and accountability for their breach. A central component of this project is providing parliamentary support in the form of capacity development, legislative research, legislative drafting, bills analysis and scrutiny with respect to Violence Against Women and Girls. Yiaga Africa is leveraging on its existing relationships in the legislature to build a strategic partnership that provides legislative support to the National Assembly and state legislature in the project focal states on legislative action on gender-based violence. It is also creating platforms for engagement and access to information such as Specialised workshops on Gender-responsive budgeting, experience sharing workshops and the production of knowledge products and resource materials such as toolkits on the rights of women and girls.
This project is funded by the European Union and the United Nations through the United Nations Development Program’s Spotlight Initiative to Eliminate All Forms of Violence Against Women and Girls.
