In fulfilling its commitment to democracy and good governance, YIAGA AFRICA and the Not Too Young To Run movement held the second edition of its innovative program for young elected parliamentarians upon the conclusion of the 2019 elections with support from the UKAID in May 2019. The Convergence 2.0, which was held at the prestigious Transcorp Hilton, Maitama, Abuja brought together nearly 300 elected representatives from the states, experienced experts from the academia, civil society and government. The newly elected parliamentarians in attendance were exposed to various topics including Understanding the Constitutional Powers of the State Legislatures, Maximizing Technology and Social Media for Effective Lawmaking, Oversight and Constituency Engagement, How to Engage with Stakeholders in Marginalized Communities, Legislative Oversight—Principles, Benchmarks and Best Practices, Effective Representation and Constituency Outreach, Youth and Women Participation in Nigeria Politics. The two-day event ended with a dinner, which had in attendance Dr Joe Abah who gave a powerful epilogue, ace comedian Chuks D General, a live band and a host of others.
